Gastrointestinal/Digestive Disorders diseases refer to diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, namely esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and rectum.
Acid reflux or gerd
Acid reflux or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) occurs when the valve between the esophagus and the stomach becomes weak. Generally, this valve opens to allow food to be inserted and then tightly closes. With GERD, the valve is open, allowing stomach acids to return to the esophagus, thereby causing heartburn and many other symptoms. If you have Heartburn which is more than twice a week and/or is not better with over-the-counter antacid, you may have GERD.
